Girl in a fur coat

In everyday life, many owners of natural fur products are faced with a problem when an almost new silver fox product turned yellow and lost its original appearance. Do not worry, there are always tools at hand that will help, most importantly, to use them correctly.

Training and safety

Two methods are used to remove yellowness from the fur: dry mechanical and dry cleaning. In the first case, bulk materials are taken that are not harmful to health: starch, flour, sand. Dry cleaning involves the use of aggressive drugs, such as ammonia, Salamander Fur Fresh aerosols. Work should be done with gloves, a respirator and with the window open, after the procedure - ventilate the room. When using gasoline, fire safety rules must be observed.

In order not to spoil the silver fox fur during cleaning, follow the requirements:

  • Test the selected product before the procedure on an inconspicuous part of the product.
  • Do not wet the skin. After wet procedures, it will become rough and brittle.
  • In order not to spoil the pile, do not rub the fur too hard.
  • Use aggressive drugs with caution.
  • Do not dry the product near heaters.
  • Clean the long pile of silver fox in the direction of the coat.

After the procedure, shake the fur and comb it thoroughly.

Folk remedies for cleaning from dirt and yellowness

Soap and brush

A product made of silver fox fur is an expensive pleasure, no one will have the thought of spoiling it. In most cases, owners resort to folk remedies for several reasons: low risk, low cost and availability of products, ease of use.

Soapy water

To remove dirt and greasy stains, dilute shampoo or liquid soap in water. Moisten a piece of gauze with a solution and wrap a brush. Clean with gentle movements in the direction of the pile. Make sure that moisture does not get on the skin under the fur. Wash off the soap solution with plain water. Dry with cotton pads. Shake the fur and go over it with a comb with rare teeth. Shake again and let dry.

Alcohol and vinegar

To remove adhering dust and greasy dirt, moisten a cotton pad with medical alcohol and walk along the villi against, and then in the direction of their growth. Wipe with a dry cloth or cotton swab.

You can replace medical alcohol with vinegar or use a mixture of them. Combine in equal proportions acetic acid, water and ethanol. Walk along the pile with a cotton swab dipped in a working solution, wiping with a dry cloth. Alcohol and vinegar dry the pile, so after the procedure, lubricate the silver fox fur with glycerin so that it regains its former shine. Shake, comb and dry the fur.

Gasoline and Talc

Yellowness and hard-to-remove spots from the fur are removed with purified gasoline in pure form and in mixtures. Get it at a hardware store, and not from gas stations.

  • Method number 1. Moisten a cotton pad with gasoline and run along the pile.
  • Method number 2. Add talcum powder to gas until gruel is obtained.Apply the mixture on the fur and leave to dry completely under natural conditions. Use a soft brush to comb out the loose substance.
  • Method number 3. Sprinkle the yellowed spot with plenty of talcum powder. Leave on for 10 minutes, then shake the product thoroughly.

In the room where you worked with gasoline, open the window. After the procedure, shake the fur and send it to fresh air for ventilation.

Ammonia and peroxide

To whiten yellowness, prepare a solution:

  • Ammonia - 1 teaspoon.
  • Hydrogen peroxide - 1 tablespoon.
  • Water - 2 glasses.

Soak a napkin in the mixture and wipe the silver fox fur in the direction of hair growth. Do not rinse the solution. If you dry the product in the sun, the effect will intensify.

Starch and flour

Lay out the fur product on a flat surface and rub the starch or flour into the pile. Actions should be carried out manually, as if when washing things. Leave on for a few minutes. Shake off the loose substance and carefully comb out the remains with a soft brush. Starch and flour successfully fight against yellowness and dirt. If yellowness remains after the procedure, repeat cleansing until stains are completely removed.

Household chemicals

Purchased products are used to quickly remove yellowness, dirt, grease stains from fur products. Before use, read the instructions and see reviews. Among the specialized chemistry, the most popular means can be distinguished:
